How to open a Bank Account in Korea

Facebook

Starting from 2018, no banks will allow you to open a bank account with simply a passport. Those good old days are gone due to new strict laws in Korea. If you are a student or working in Korea you will have to bring documents proving it.

Student:

  • Student ID card
  • Alien Registration Card
  • Passport
  • Bill payment of courses
  • Proof of Address (Housing contract)

Working in Korea:

  • Alien Registration Card
  • Passport
  • Proof of employment (e.g pay stub)
  • Proof of address (Housing contract)

Even if you are on a F-visa but you are not a student or working in Korea. You will not be able to open a bank account.
